Precautions:
Glucosamine is extremely safe to people of all ages. No significant side-effects have been reported in any studies. However, high dosages may cause minor gastric problems, nausea, diarrhoea, indigestion and heartburn in some susceptible people. It should therefore be taken with meals to help avoid these problems. Glucosamine is produced from Chitin, which is derived from crustacean, and may not be suitable for those with severe shellfish allergies. Pregnant women should not take Glucosamine, as there are insufficient study to determine the effect on a child or a developing foetus.
