Potassium is needed by the body for the proper functioning of the heart, kidneys, muscles, nerves and the digestive system.
Before taking potassium tell your healthcare professional if you are taking any other prescription and nonprescription medications, especially angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors , enalapril , lisinopril , diuretics and vitamins. Do not take potassium if you are taking amiloride, spironolactone, or triamterene. Also consult your healthcare professional if you have or have ever had heart, kidney, or Addison's disease, if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding, or if you are having surgery, including dental surgery.
